TOMORROW: unleash the f***ing pacha

If you're going to be in NYC tomorrow and you're up for braving both the epic proportions of snow we've been receiving and hoards of fist-pumping guidos, you should be going to Pacha NYC for Dada Life & Bart B More.

Add electric house duo Dada Life to the already long list of reasons to love Sweden. If the weather persists, we might as well be in Stockholm anyway! Now if only I could follow him to Miami tomorrow where he'll be playing at my old stomping grounds, Mansion... and we'd all get to wear several less layers (and unleash the dada, of course).

Get ready to dance:
Dada Life - Let's Get Bleeped Tonight (Tiesto Remix) by Nejat

Don't Feed The Dada by Dada Life

Dutch sensation Bart B More does some fabulous remixes in addition to his fresh original tracks. Between him and Dada, your legs will definitely be hurting the next day.

yes, Kaskade, we are listening

There's probably 5 things in this world that could make me as happy as a new track by Kaskade. I'm hesitant to say love was invented in Chicago (that just goes against everything I know about love) but you have to consider the possibility when you turn this up.

VIDEO: illmerica

New video out from Wolfgang Gartner for Illmerica. You're probably wondering the same thing I was when this was sent to me: Who really watches music videos anymore? Well, this one's worthwhile. You might even learn something about American history. Howard Zinn would approve.

no matter what they say, let it go

Having a case of the mondays? I've got the remedy right here.

No matter what they say, let it go. Words to live by. Thank you Dirty South & Axwell for helping us survive Mondays around the world.

and now, for something completely different

The best thing about having baby sisters...other than that they are ridiculously adorable, of course...is being able to watch shows like this. Shows like Yo Gabba Gabba are WAY cooler than anything I ever had as a kid (at least that I can remember).

Here's the Chromeo tune you're missing out on by not hanging out with 3 year olds:

And - you won't forget to wash your hands with this song stuck in your head! xxx.

ben watt at cielo 1/20

So I promised I'd post about Ben Watt later, but this night set the precedent for my weekend and I never got around to it (sorry).

Watch the following video and you'll understand:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDHrmV5doF4

I was a bit worried that he was going to be a little too loungey for me (aka not good for a dance), but as you can tell from the video (taken on Thursday, but not by me... though I might be in it somewhere with a German and 3 English chaps all named James) that was NOT a problem! We even met someone who flew out from San Francisco JUST for this set. Also, those in NY who haven't yet checked out Cielo, I'd put it on your must-see list immediately.

So enjoy a little bit of UK house this morning, and stay tuned as there's more to come!

hangover music

Happy Friday. Had a pretty damn good dance last night with Ben Watt at Cielo (more on that to come) but in the meantime, I'm definitely paying for it. And I personally find that nothing helps a hangover like a little bit of trance (and fountain diet coke. But that one I may have to do without this morning).

Anyway, Ferry Corsten has come to my rescue a couple of times in the past, so I'm sharing his essential mix from 2010. Like all the best trance, he's Dutch

Unfortunately I'm not on top of my game this morning and can't seem to figure out how to stream it to you, so I'm leaving it to the professionals over at Er7. Go here and listen.

Then come back and thank me.

gareth for the WYN

I'm embarrassed to say I'd never before heard of Gareth Wyn until this EM, especially after reading his credentials - the guy has gotten around. Hailing from the UK (of course), a Pete Tong favorite with Ibiza residency, he's also a producer and remixer for some pretty big names (Beyonce, Britney Spears, Usher, Christina Aguilera, etc). He's even got his own underground music label - www.beatthat.com

So check it out. 2 hours that should probably get you dancing in your seat a little.

And if you don't have 2 hours, at least check out "Beautiful," the song that put him on Tong's radar and an Essential New Tune contender.

P.S. - you can download the EM over at one of my favorite spots, Er7.

the song your song could smell like

Just came across this little gem:

for my buddy @OldSpice by Remix Artist Collective

Good for at least a chuckle. Of course, me being an ad geek, I did a bit more than chuckle.

And if you're gonna be around Williamsburg this weekend, check out Remix Artist Collective at the Brooklyn Bowl. Free w/ RSVP.

In bed with Norman Doray

Norman Doray is hot - full stop. You may have heard him around on tracks like "Tweet It" (with my main man Tim Berg, better known now as Avicii).

Tweet It - Tim Berg, Norman Doray & Sebastien Drums by Norman Doray

But the jam of the day is Chase the Sun because it's ALMOST nice out, with a whopping high of 33F (kill me) and no rain, snow or "wintry mix."

wait a minute, what i say i gotta do again?

March 2010 was a great month. I will never forget hearing A-Trak drop "Barbra Streisand" at Ultra and the crowds reaction. And just as we were all completely sick of this track, this mix comes in. Uffie's an old fav of mine, and the line about Memento gets me everytime.

And good news - I got a sound cloud account! More to come!

Anybody else miss 2010 a little?

Thanks to Laidback Luke, I've spent my morning reliving some of the better moments of it...

I still haven't figured out how to embed songs, so I stole this bad boy from another blog. But. Right click, save, and go nuts.

god i can't do this anymore

The first time I heard Calvin Harris's "I'm not alone" - I SKIPPED it. Yes, really, it came to me on a playlist by none other than my dear friend Andy, the intro bored me, and I skipped right along to the next.
Fast forward almost a year later and this song became my favorite Calvin Harris song. The buildup is - literally - epic and it has that quality that it actually gives me chills.

So for someone to strip it down to something so laid back and (dare I say?) simple is counterintuitive, and one would guess...an absolutely terrible idea. And yet, leave it to Deadmau5 to do just that. Without further ado...

Also. This remix made me realize what this song is actually about - being hungover. Or having rave flu. Maybe both.

kick kick kick kick

So last week sucked. Just in general. I think you'd agree.

Lucky for me, I had this little gem last week, and it helped me make it through. Afrojack is a recent favorite of mine (but I missed out on seeing him at Pacha NYC a couple weeks ago...wah). So kickstart your week with this jam.

i've got nothin but tunes for you...

It’s been suggested to me a handful of times that I should start a music blog. It's an important part of my life, I tend to have opinions about it, and I like to share, so: hello, welcome, etc. Most of my posts will probably be links to songs on YouTube until I figure out how to embed music in those cool little links people do. In the meantime, enjoy.

And since i’ve got axwell stuck in my head after my ridiculously clever title… here’s a good starting point:
